Name Games

Bopper Name

An active way to encourage group members to learn names quickly!

Equipment

A 'bopper' (a soft foam bat, or a sleeping mat rolled up works well)

How to play

Participants stand in a circle. Choose one person to stand in the middle and give them the 'bopper'. To begin, the 'bopper' says another person's name and approaches them, aiming to 'bop' them on the torso or legs. The chosen person must say their own name, followed by someone else's in the circle, before the 'bopper' touches them. If they are 'bopped' before getting both names out, they move into the centre and become the new 'bopper'. Continue until the game moves quickly, indicating members know each other's names.

Variations

To increase difficulty, instruct players to step in and decrease the size of the circle.
