Chasing Games

Elbow Tag

How to play

All players except two stand in pairs with elbows linked, spread around the playing area. One player is the runner and one is the tagger. The tagger chases the runner. To find safety, the runner can link their free elbow to one person in any pair, making a trio. When this happens, the person on the other end of that pair immediately becomes the new runner and must flee from the tagger. If the tagger catches the runner, they swap roles. Keep the action moving by encouraging runners to link onto pairs quickly.

Variations

Increase the number of taggers and runners simultaneously for a larger class. Set a time limit for how long a pair can wait without being joined.
